Active Outreach Efforts
“Drop In the Bucket” Food Distribution Program
Since January of 2007, the First United Methodist Church of Reno has
provided non-perishable food for those persons of need in downtown Reno.
Every other Saturday morning a dedicated group of volunteers from the
congregation distribute bags of groceries, serving approximately 80
individuals each time. Working in partnership with the Food Bank of
Northern Nevada, the Drop In the Bucket program has helped over 550 clients
in its first year. For more information, contact Richard Drath in the

Volunteer In Mission Outreach
March 8 to 14, 2008, a team of volunteers from the First United Methodist
Church of Reno will travel to New Orleans to assist with the continuing
recovery efforts from Hurricanes Katrina and Rita. Supported in part by the
Mission Outreach Committee of the recent Capital Campaign, 20 to 25
dedicated volunteers will spend a week rebuilding homes in partnership with
a United Methodist Committee On Relief church in New Orleans.
