Children's Sunday school (3 years old-6th grade )

mj 510:15- 11:15am. Children attend the 10am service, come forward for the children's moment and leave for Sunday school classes afterward. Children gather together downstairs for a few minutes of singing and are then split into age groups and taken to their respective classrooms.

Our children have a great time learning tried and true spiritual concepts taught by our enthusiastic teachers! Currently, we are following a new curriculum from Progressive Christianity, in addition to utilizing science and creativity to connect with God in our everyday lives. Our teachers and students enjoy the stories that enlighten us to God and the teachings of Christ and the activities and crafts that remind us of our weekly affirmations.

mj 4A registration form must be filled out by each family the first day a child attends Sunday school of each year. Registration forms can be found by contacting Missy Jaynes or on the table at the bottom and please check our announcement bulletin board downstairs as well for future events. Children must be picked up and signed out by a parent or guardian from their classrooms after service. Below is a list of where you can find our children. Follow the rainbow to our colored rooms.

Children's Program (K-6th )

Throughout the year, children of Reno FUMC enjoy a wide variety of programs. Last year we reintroduced the much missed Vacation Bible School (VBS) and will have dates available for this summers program in the coming months. Other programs children can participate in include acolyte training and participation, Sweet Vibrations bell choir, not to mention the various other seasonal activities around Christmas, Easter and other important holidays. This last year we had a wonderful turn out for our Trunk-or-Treat family Halloween party held at the Reno High School front parking lot. {insert picture of Trunk-or-Treat}

mj 6The yearly Children's Christmas Pageant is always a hit with our children. Children rehears in the mornings at the beginning of Sunday school and again in the evening on Sunday. Most children take their scripts and music sheets home to practice during the week! Y

ou do not have to be a member of our congregation to participate in our programs. Please come check us out as programs interest you and your family!

The All Church Family Retreat is coming up in April. Last year we made lots of art projects, played with bubbles, hung out by Tahoe, and danced in front of the whole group at the Lack of Talent show!tn trunk and treat

 G.I.A.N.T.S (God Is A Never-ending Teen Support) – aka UMYF

We meet every Sunday evening from 5- 7 pm. Together we enjoy dinner, fellowship, games, art opportunities, and Sanctuary time focusing on discussion and spiritual exploration with the use of video and music. We are also learning about service with different projects that will benefit our families, church and our community. There are summer opportunities for leadership and faith camps, and conferences. White Water Rafting is a big event during our summer with class 3 and 4 rapids on the American river. We camp, do Ropes courses, have a Youth Retreats and lock-ins.

We offer a confirmation class every 2 years for our 7th and 8th graders. It is a year long course that studies the fundamentals of our faith as United Methodists. We not only study scripture, and learn our history, but we take time to learn what our friends around us are worshiping and how they do it. We look forward to confirming our latest class May 2013.

Parents should review the guidelines that describe parental interests and responsibilities as given here.
