Nurturing Ministries

Worship Education Youth Children Music

These ministries look to find ways to nurture those members and friends who are part of the First UMC family. Typically they focus on educational, worship, spiritual formation and stewardship components of our ministry.

Music

We have various opportunities to glorify God through Music. Please see our separate Music Ministry area.

Prayer and Share

The Prayer and Share group meets at noon on Thursdays to share with each other and address any prayer requests. Each person brings his or her own lunch.

Dinners for 8

We have 27 households participating in the Fall/Winter Dinners for Eight Program. Each month a group of eight folks gather for a potluck - sometimes dinner, other times just coffee and desert, pizza, a hike in the woods or whatever the hosts decides. Each month, everyone is "scrambled" and new groups meet. Everyone takes a turn as host. Between January and March we will have six groups meeting monthly and an all-group potluck will be held in Fellowship Hall in April. Anyone interested in participating can call Barbara Trimmer, 346-6113 for details. Always room at the table to squeeze in someone new.

Parents Night Out

The second Friday of each month is Parents Night Out, when professional child care providers care for members' children, ages 1 to 11, from 5:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. Cost is $5.00 for one child, or $10 for a family.

Volunteers

Scouting program helped by Reno First volunteers
As with most churches, First Church has a crew of volunteers without whom we could not manage. There is always room for others with office skills, a painter’s ability, a knack for gardening; you name it, we can put you to work! It is always with deep appreciation that we use volunteers - they keep the “machine” of the church tuned up!
